oh, yay! i'm so glad you liked, nay, LOVED it! this was one of my favorite movies growing up. released in 1987, set in 1963 (baby says this in the voice over at the beginning). and did you recognize her (jennifer grey) from ferris bueller? she played his sister jeannie. there's lore about patrick swayze and jennifer grey not liking each other very much, at least when they started filming this - i think because of how things went when they worked together on red dawn? my favorite story about this movie, though, was how smartly the writer worked in the abortion storyline, so when the studio would inevitably get nervous and suggest removing it, there's not really a way to do that and still have the rest of the story make sense. well played. if you haven't already watched it, there's a video floating around of a guy recreating the final scene in his apartment, alone, during quarantine. if you wanted to react to that . . . 🤷‍♀️😉

Baby was 18 when she met Johnny because her father mentioned she was starting college in the fall. Johnny was meant to be 24/25. Jennifer was 26 when she played Baby and Patrick was 34, so the age difference between them was around the same as their characters. I'M SO GLAD YOU LOVED THIS MOVIE! IT IS MY PERSONAL FOREVER FAVORITE. Just wondering, have you ever seen any of the classic De Niro movies like Goodfellas or A Bronx Tale? If not, I 100% recommend. Especially Goodfellas! And yes, at least for me, a sing-along/re-reaction to Grease would be so fun!

So I just wanted to slide in here and say that I’m glad you loved the reaction, I would be glad if you did a new reaction to Grease as well (I prefer Grease 2 but I know most people don’t), and you should totally watch Footloose at some point as well!! Thank you so much for this reaction! You made my night!! 😃

Patrick swayze is actually a trained dancer in ballet and other styles his mother was a very famous choreographer. this is one of my top 5 movies. Also love Patrick swayze in ghost which I hope u react to sometime

Stacey

Patrick swayze also wrote and sang the song she’s like the wind that’s in this movie :)

Ninaofthe90s

this movie has so many flaws - but it's also perfection. I wouldn't change anything. I've seen it a hundred times.

Quantoto

Thanks for your reaction. Watching you enjoy this movie made it shiny and new again. This is a classic because it not shows great dancing but also addresses sensitive issues (abortion, classism), shows the changing relationship between father and daughters when daughters reach adulthood, and has some romance, so there is something for everyone.

Ashley

FINALLY someone else who likes Grease 2 more than Grease 😁

Ashley

Yes, Patrick Swayze was the son of a dancer and choreographer and was a classically trained ballet dancer. He can dance (and do martial arts, too).

Crystal Laherrere

For some other great Patrick Swayze movies I offer The Outsiders and Road House and Ghost as mentioned above. I wouldn’t mind a reaction to Grease and as also mentioned above Grease 2. Such fun movies.

Great film! Great reaction. As for the vans comment. I think this was set a few years before Vans were founded (1966 they were founded) even though the film was actually done in the 80s. So, they could have been vans if they didn't think of the time period as they were out a few years.

J Scott Page

A little fun fact, Jennifer Grey is married to none other than Clark Gregg, aka Agent Phil Coulson!

Mariella Nilsson

The music is truly one of the best things about the movie, I mean everything is good but the music is amazing!

If you love Baby’s Dad you will have to make the biggest reaction commitment possible and watch Jerry Orbach’s most famous TV character on original Law and Order. He was also a Tony award winning song and dance guy.

Aimee

Yes! Jerry Orbach was wonderful, may he Rest In Peace. He also voiced Lumiere in the animated Disney Beauty and the Beast.

KayGee

This is one of my favorite movies. So glad you enjoyed it.

If you want to see these two again and a few other actors in their early years but also have a stark contrast, you need to watch Red Dawn (1984).
