I like episodes where Clark discovers his powers like this, but there is one thing that always bothered me about this episode. I haven't watched your reaction yet so maybe you caught it but Clark wasn't affected by Kryptonite laced in the girl's bones. In the Superman lore, Kryptonite can be shielded by lead. It's the only way Superman is not affected by it is if its encased in lead, however Superman can't see through lead either. It's a minor nitpick I never noticed as a kid but now I'm just like grrr lol

On the techicality of the x-ray vision (no spoilers on episode content): They hadn't decided yet how x-ray was supposed to work but quickly settled on it being exactly what it says on the tin. I don't think he ever uses see-through again beyond 1x8 (where it wasn't technically necessary either). The shower scene from this ep is mentioned once in season 2, though. In season 4 there is a scene where he x-rays a closet to discover a person but has to specifically open the closet to recognize the person.

Lizzy Caplan has played major roles on True Blood or Masters of Sex.

Kryptonite does whatever the episode needs it to do. But on a scientific level. Kryptonite emits radiation and radiation follows the inverse square law (Intensity equals the inverse of the square of the distance from the source. If the source is 2x as far away, it's 1/4 as much exposure.) Thus, tiny fragments on her bones, additionally shieled by her muscles and skin and clothes may not be powerful enough to impact Clark visibly.

A standard trope of any "Clark discovers a new power" episode: Loads and loads of bad puns with regards to the new power. Just take notice how many people make reference to seeing things or having issues with eyes.

"Why is she so strong though"? Kryptonite seems to boost Human's natural strength besides giving them extraordinary abilities.

Regarding the creepiness: I find Clark's use of his telescope to spy on Lana way more creepy (it's the Edward-Bella problem). The use of his vision here - while he could have turned away - was purely accidental since he had no control over it and didn't even know what exactly was happening.

Regarding the double L names in the Superman universe: There are so many, the creators definitely made a statement with the L names. These are just on the top of my head. Lana Lang, Laura Lang, Lewis Lang, Lex Luthor, Lionel Luthor, Lena Luthor, Lucas Luthor, Lois Lane, Lucy Lane, and probably so many others I can't remember now. :)

Alliterations are quite common in comics land overall. There's Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Jessica Jones and so on.

There's something special about Smallville. I really like the next episode but not for the same reasons I really like the 6th. Both are great but in their own ways. 6 is probably going to be everyone's go-to when they say Smallville "gets good around episode X" but there's magic in every episode. To your question Steven on if we'll get season long villains: There's 10 seasons of this show and they're not all the same. :)

DJ Doena

Many people dislike episode 7 because of its plot, but I love the story because of the plot and I will explain why when Steven has seen it.

Movies by Alien Ant Farm....I loved the music in the earlier seasons....

I’m a fan of this show and I like Lana as a character but one of the big complaints is that Lana can be too perfect at time and that everyone is in love with her. Out of the 4 monsters of the week so far, two of them have been high school students and both have been obsessed with Lana. Bug boy and now Tina. We already know that both Whitney and Clark are in love with her too. Look I get it, Kristen Kruek is super hot. So I’m with them. But it is kind of noticeable how much everyone is always obsessed with her.

i really hope you continue smallville reactions

For Clark/ Superman Lana Lang has been a friend or love interest as a teen in place of Lois being the friend/ love interest as an adult since early days back to I believe the 50's in the Superboy comics where some of the elements of the show come from all the Smallville or teenage stories from 1938-2001 when this aired. Chloe is an original character but takes the friend/ reporter part for now.
