I understand that you may not be in the right headspace to watch shows right now and I think I speak for everyone when I say: feel free to take a break. However, if you want to react to shows, I feel like Gilmore Girls is one of the best shows to take your mind off things, since it's so silly and light-hearted. About the episode: yes, Luke is indeed grumpy and hates participating in town-related events. However, he is far from selfish and he is beloved by the town for a reason. I agree that he mostly does selfless things for Lorelai (which he does because he has feelings for her even though he may not realize it), but he also does things for others, like Jess, but also shows random acts of kindness, such as when they were reenacting some historical event and they were outside freezing in the snow and he brought them coffee and hot cocoa. Luke may be grumpy, but when it counts, he is there for people and that's why they like him (and that's why they eventually showed up at the funeral and the wake - for Luke, not for his uncle, just like Lorelai said). Also, yet, Rory is annoying. I honestly found the parts with her and Jess annoying in this episode, it was just so unnecessary.

Agree with you and your Rory frustrations. I think what it boils down to is, she likes Jess and enjoys the attention from him. She doesn't see Jess as "trouble," and thinks he's misunderstood. But she's also in denial about the fact that these feelings mean she should probably break up with Dean, because he's her first love and she feels like she's supposed to be with him (her mom encouraging Dean and that relationship while clearly not liking Jess reinforces that notion for her). It's annoying, but like you say, realistic. Anyway, thanks for this reaction, I enjoyed it as always. It's heart-wrenching and depressing times like these that I feel the urge to dive into escapism like these shows more than ever, but everyone copes with things differently, and if you need to step away for a bit, I hope you feel free to do so without worrying about us holding it against you. Be safe and be well. :)

Thank you for another reaction, especially when you are feeling a bit flat, this show is certainly one for a bit of escapism though. I agree this wasn’t the best episode, but there are some great ones coming up for the end of this season and season 3 is great.

And I love the triangle with Rory, Dean ,and Jess. A few episodes ago with the Puffs thing you wanted her to act more like a normal teenager...well here you are. She likes Jess and is drawn to him but her mother keeps telling her that Dean is perfect and Jess is trouble and she is too naive and passive to do anything other than stay in the same situation. I love this period of the show, and Jess certainly adds excitement to Rorys storyline. ;

I agree with everything you said about Rory.

I always saw the Rory/Jess thing as Rory being completely oblivious to what is going on. She is painfully naive. Remember, she never believed Tristin liked her. Even at the end, she believed he only did all that because he had a need to prove that she would go out with him. She never believed he actually liked her. I think the same is with Jess. I truly believe she sees him as a friend, not understanding he liked her, and not even realizing her own feelings toward him. She's never had a friend she could relate to on a more intellectual level who wasn't from Chilton. And she feels protective, as he has never been anything but sweet to her, and everyone else is so against him. Yes, it is all annoying, but it may be easier to take if you look at it as she isn't maliciously cheating on Dean. She understands Dean doesn't like him, and for that reason, she tries to not let him see them together, but I honestly think in her mind it is a Dean doesn't like Jess, so I'll just be friends with him when Dean is not around.

I found her forcing Jess to help his uncle uncle entertaining. Got him off his lazy ass to give a helping hand. It would have been better if she had taken him by his ear and dragged him downstairs at the beginning, but it was all still funny to me.
