One thing I've always told people is this show is a human drama more than it is anything else. The colonials are fighting a war with themselves just as much as they are with the cylons. A lot of the time, that's the main focus.

Episode 6 or 7 of this season those flashes of stuff that happens during the episode come back. Not sure why they got rid of it only to bring it back, but it comes back.

As you sort of hinted at at the end, it seems like you're conflating emotional (sometimes frustrated and angry) reactions to the characters to their quality as characters. That reaction just indicates that the show is effective, because it's making you care. The people in the show are flawed. Your dislike for them is intentional. The bad guys are not cool bad guys, they're barely bad guys at all. Just damaged, flawed human beings put into an obscene situation. Ellen's a pretty terrible human being, but people like that exist, and sometimes other people fall in love with them. Tigh's behaviour is totally human.

When I first started watching this show I had no idea it would pull me in so many emotional directions. What they do so well is to force you to see multiple angles of an issue and really wrestle with the consequences of each potential decision. Especially today, when so many of us live in our own echo chambers on social media, being confronted with the issues this small group of people face and having to consider other viewpoints to our own is so brilliantly done by this show.
