While I love Luke and all of his efforts to help Jess... I really, really hate Jess as an overall character. To me... he is the worst and most annoying character throughout the entire series hands down.

I've been waiting for your reaction to this episode. I love Jess (can't really say why because of spoilers) but I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to think.

I love Jessie's character. I honestly think that Lorelai was out of line. She was talking to Jess acting like she had been through the same thing as him when she has always had two parents who wanted her. Jessie's father bailed and his mom has bailed now too. Also, she's was negative about Luke taking him in from the beginning. Jessie is Luke's family and she should be supportive. Luke was more right in that argument. Yes, Luke needed to be more firm and set rules but the way Lorelai was acing was annoying to me.

When Luke shoves Jess into the lake, I burst out laughing so hard. It was so unexpected and absolutely hilarious. :)

Primus

Definitely am on the Jess hate train. Like Heidi said Jess in the lake is the most satisfying moment in almost the entire show haha

Luke pushing jess in the lake is one of my top five scenes! God episode! The way jess spoke to lorelei was so rude I would have hit him in the head with the bear! i really like Paris and Rory scenes so this episode is a 10 for me!

Great episode. Love the comments above as well, the disparity regarding Jess is great. I lean a little towards the disliking Jess department, he was dealt a bad hand but his attitude is just a little much for me. Don't read ahead Steven, the rest of my comment is a little spoilerish. *Spoiler* *Spoiler* While some of Jess's dialogue and scenes at times are some of my favorite in the show, his introduction and the rest of this season is where I started disliking Rory as a character and that reeallly hurt the show for me, feel free to disagree but some of her decisions down the line really anger me and are very messed up, after a couple of seasons of her being mostly a great person that thinks of others, she starts hurting people that didn't deserve it out of nowhere, and I can't help but blame Jess for the changes. *Spoiler* *Spoiler*

As for you not feeling like the "I really wanted you to be my stepfather" line made sense, I agree... but again, she saw him on a daily basis, and while it was in a teacher/student capacity, he clearly came off positively since he was the overwhelming favorite of the students. We may not have gotten the screen time for a fully developed relationship but it was definitely the closest anyone Lorelai has dated has gotten to Rory. To me though, it was almost more of a situation where Rory felt he was a good guy for her mom, and that was enough for her to want it to work out, even if they weren't super close themselves. But Lorelai sure knows how to dump'em *shrug*

Primus

Completely agree. That is one of the main reasons I hated him. Rory IMO never got back on my good side after season 2 debacle, and that ruined a major part of the show for me. That is why Lorelai is hands down my fav character alongside Luke.

Other Boy Reactions

I love Luke and Lorelai fights. And Sookie’s giggles always brighten up my day😂 And Jess should wear that tight ass shirt everyday.

I love when Luke pushes Jess in the lake lol

I love Jess!😍 What can I say. I was so excited for his introduction. And I also love Dean. I'm a big fan of Supernatural and I watched Gilmore Girls after the fact. So right from the get go, I was biased with Dean. So I genuinely root for him. However I don't think I have to hate Jess because I like Dean. I think that they are both great characters. Jess is what I feel like the writers wanted Dean to be in the beginning. The "bad boy" that wears leather jackets and has a motorcycle. But they ended up making him more of the "boy next door" type which is great. Jess doesn't have a motorcycle 😂 but I think with his attitude and personality Jess juxtaposes Dean really well. Glad you like it. See you next time

I am honestly not a fan of bad boy and tortured type of characters, so Jess has never been one of my favorites. He’s really popular, but I just never got it. Luke pushing Jess into the lake is ICONIC. I remember dying of laughter when I first saw that scene.

Ah, Jess! The sole reason I started watching Gilmore Girls. I just love him. I always feel whether you love him or hate him depends on how much you can see things from his perspective and where you fall in the end on certain things. Milo and Alexis dated for many years after meeting here and falling in love.

Didn't like Jess the first time I watched because of the whole Rory and Dean thing. Don't like Jess on my Geeked Out Nation's rewatch because he's just a jerk. Nothing excuses the way he behaves, especially towards Luke and Lorelai. It's despicable. He's not a tortured misunderstood bad boy. He's just a jackass.
