Yeah, not one of my favourite episodes either. In fact, I usually skip this one when I do a re-watch of the series.

I agree with your review of the episode overall. Some lovely concepts and David Morrissey was really good especially during the emotional scenes, but the cyberman plot was truly nonsensical.first 20 mins or so had me genuinely intrigued and the scenes where the Doctor was working out who the other doctor was were really well done - but that leaves about 40 % of the episode that was dull and made no sense. Shame really - it could have been brilliant

A mediocre episode of Doctor Who, to be sure, but it suffers from being taken out of context. Imagine it’s Christmas Day, you’re 12 years old, and it’s been 6 months since The Stolen Earth aired. If you think of it in that light, it may have been an average adventure but it wasn’t boring. It was fairly light with no real sense of peril and a few poignant moments, perfect for the whole family on Christmas.

Oh wow I seem to be in the minority. I liked this episode. I didn't see 'boring' coming. I loved watching him try and figure out the puzzle of the new doctor. For me it wasn't about the Cyberman they just were the monster of the week. Sorry to hear you didn't like this one. As for the not meeting himself there is precedence for that I just don't know how to talk about that subject without risking some spoilers. Interesting to see how it could be boring. Nice to see this thru your eyes. I'd suggest you watch the red nose specials here very soon.. They were a bunch of non cannon shorts produced for the red nose fundraiser they have in the UK. They are a bunch of David Tenant and Donna and are excellent.

The next episode "The Planet Of The Dead" is a seminal moment in the entire show as it marks the moment that Doctor Who starts filming in HD going forward. It doesn't take away from what went before but it certainly adds to what comes next 😍

I guess "The Governor" from the "Walking Dead" was Time Lord, who lost his fob watch.

I thought the first 20 minutes were brilliantly funny and interesting.
