You’ve reached another milestone in the Buffy the vampire slayer watching experience. This an iconic episode, another Jane Espenson gemme. There are some cringeworthy lines but a lot of iconic ones. Too many to mention, really. Spike has the best ones the whole episode. A bear, you made a bear! Undo it! Undo it! It’s start slow when you don’t know where it’s going, then the fun begins. Buffy conspicuous black cowboy hat is a deliberate costume choice. The bad guys in black and white western movies wore black hats to distinguish them easily in group fight scene from the good guys, who wore white hats. The where the expression being a “white hat” comes from. So in this scene at the beginning of the episode the writers are anticipating what Buffy role will be perceived as.

This is one of my favorite Buffy episodes! Spike is so funny lmao. I love the fact that he just happens to hang out with the Scooby Gang for random reasons. I love Giles's sarcastic comments in this and Willow's "lallalaa" and Xander's usual awkward humor. And how straightforward Anya is. Buffy just thinks too much about the cooking, she shows cute sides of her in this. "It is a sham, but it's a yam-sham" Angel's appearance was so random to me but it was indeed funny how everyone thought he was Angelus again. Season 4 of Buffy is my favorite season, it's just really funny. Spike "hey, watch the heart!" 🤣 then Giles speaking on the phone while the indians shoot arrows, "yes, we're well aware of that, thank you" that always gets to me 😆 then "who was that?" "uhm...someone"

Yeah, I think Buffy was feeling nostalgic and lonely and just wanted to feel like she did as a kid, which she mentioned about feeling eight years old when she smells Thanksgiving food. It makes sense. Things like that from childhood can make someone feel warm and safe. I think that's why she was trying so hard to make a family type dinner. But yeah, a fun episode.

Yes the scar has always been there. It's actually a real scar of James Marsters that the costume a makeup people liked so much they put into his character. It actually shows up when he goes vamp. Love your reaction by the way.💜
