Ari is my Cat

Dean is better than Sam. He's played by a better actor and because of that a vast majority of the cool/weird/out there episodes tend to focus on Dean.

GeekedOutNation

Well that makes sense. They do tend to give him more to do in the episodes so far. Sam is more the straight man of the duo team

I think Mary was attracted to secret guilt. Like the dad felt guilty about the wife's suicide. The girl felt guilty about the abusive boyfriend suicide.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I'd probably lean towards a 6 just because of the reveal that Sam dreamed about Jessica's death before it happened. There were a lot of people wondering the same thing about Dean's eyes bleeding. It's definitely possible, especially doing what he does, that he could be responsible for someone's death. I think the victims felt guilty and it was a secret and involved a death which is all that mattered to Mary. I think I said this on my last comment but Dean is my favourite, always has been. Both characters are complex though and I do think that Sam will grow on you the more his character develops.

This isn't really a very good episode, overall. It had some good stuff about Sam. I agree about the girl's acting. Writing was't probably the best, but good acting can sometimes make it work. The older actresses weren't very good - especially the one they were helping. The younger girls were better. The stuff about Sam sounding like he's overacting sometimes is partly intentional, I think. Sam is trying to come across as very sympathetic so that people will be comfortable talking to them. Sam's likely not a good actor, so if he's not really feeling sympathetic he has to try to sound like it. The twist to the Bloody Mary myth is something the show's creator's like to do. They want to put their own spin on things. That gets more pronounced as time goes on. It was interesting hearing what Sam had to say - we learned something totally now. Now what does all that mean??? There was lots of speculation in the fandom with this episode back then about what it meant when Dean got affected too? He's a Hunter, so he's killed things - but I don't think that would have done it. But, I personally always thought that it was just Mary going after him because he was getting in her way.

I'm going with the theory that Mary attacked Dean because he was getting in her way - But - it could very well also be because Dean is hiding guilt about someone's death. Which could mean anything. With what he does - his goal is to save people. If he couldn't save someone he would feel guilty about that. Feel responsible for their death. That could be enough for Mary if she is going after the guilt factor.

Dean is my favorite - always will be. He's my favorite male fictional character. But I do love Sam and I think that now you're on season 7, you must love him too by now. You can't love one and not love the other. It's against the law of nature.
