Just realised this was here - and thought it would be interesting to see you react to Doctor Who jumping in at season 11 ! And it was - a bit confusing eh? Not surprised you decided to go back to season 1 of New Who. Glad you enjoyed it so much. A very creepy bad guy eh. Uh, the teeth. An I liked his metal suit design. Ryan is 19, which he mentioned at the beginning in his vlog. It wasn’t something traumatic that happened - hence no flashbacks. Ryan has dyspraxia, a condition that affects co-ordination. It is a neurological disorder. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developmental_coordination_disorder" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developmental_coordination_disorder</a> His step-grandad mentioned it about the middle of the episode, and I think Ryan mentioned it in passing to Yaz - when climbing the crane. So it;s not about ‘knowing how’ or just learning to ride the bike - hence why he keeps falling and can’t manage it. You probably realsie by episode 8 of season 1, that none of this is magic - it’s all alien technology - or alien biology - e.g the Doctor’s glowing hands. The glowing hands - and not remembering her name, are all because she was still ‘regenerating’. On your comment for early in the episode - the Doctor can see herself in a mirror. She didn’t know what she looked like, because she had only just regenerated and fallen from the Tardis - not even a chance to check over her new body. Which as you know, the Doctor is being played by a woman for the first time, so is not used to a female body. It’s not unusual for the Doctor to have more than one companion, sometimes there are 2 or 3. I like that all 3 of them zapped away with the Doctor. Ryan’s nan dying was so sad. She would’ve made a great companion - very brave and adventurous. Also, Ryan’s mum is dead, and his dad is a deadbeat. Poor Ryan. Btw, don’t know if anyone has mentioned this yet - but the Tardis is not disguised at a telephone box as such., i.e not a public call box - it is a Police Box. “A police box is a public telephone kiosk or callbox for the use of members of the police, or for members of the public to contact the police. It was used in the United Kingdom throughout the 20th century from the early 1920s.[1] Unlike an ordinary callbox, its telephone was located behind a hinged door so it could be used from the outside, and the interior of the box was, in effect, a miniature police station for use by police officers to read and fill in reports, take meal breaks and even temporarily hold detainees until the arrival of transport.” There ’s a little info on the Tardis in the link below - IF you want to read it - nothing that I think is spoilery, this is all established basic knowledge from the original series - but you might wanna pick it up slower from the New Who series you are watching. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_box" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_box</a>

Really liked this blind reaction of s11 ep1. I just became a patreon so I am going through all the DW reactions lol. Thirteen honestly had amazing moments in all of s11 and I am glad you liked the vibe and feel from this episode without knowing much, but I am so glad you decided to go back and start from s1. I am excited to go through and catch up on the reactions :)

Watching Doctor Who from here is rather bizarre to me! It feels like a different show compared to the previous seasons. Also it's a strange season to start with if you don't know any details of the show. Being British I knew what the TARDIS was and what a dalek is for instance. I'm glad you've gone back to watch it from the start of the New Who era. I hope you come back to watch this during your reactions - you'll understand a few more things and have a different perspective on a few things once you've got foreknowledge
