Hey hey!
Devlog time! Time for more rambling! :D
I'm pleased to be able to say that the development of Update 8 is going smoothly. Writing is finalized, all assets for Update 8 are gathered, inserted into the game, up, running and working. :D I'm working on the update's visuals now putting it all together and there isn't that much left. This isn't the largest update now that one scene was cut out of it, but it's still a little over 10k words, so it's about the size of your usual update!
There'll be a lot of talking, some lore, new characters, old characters, all the stuffz! The old characters didn't get much new stuff in terms of visuals, though. The only that did was our boy Sam (because he had so little before!) . I'll post previews of that very soon as well for those interested. :)
As for new characters, you all already know of the two new ones plus our secondary character initiative with Jen the Librarian. Jen's scenes are already complete and I think Ludwig's day looks even nicer with her there. I hope people will go back to take a look since Blain did an excellent job (as always) with her expressions!
With the visuals soon to be done, I'll have to work still on the new credits and the strucure for the fan art, and then create this update's new unlockables. A whole new memory with sprites to see and a few other memories with lore information from Resnick's pretty little head!
There won't be choices or infusions to do in this update, unfortunately, as the power usage was in the scene that's getting recreated. I already talked a bunch about it, but I'll talk a bit more just to catch up people that don't remember and elaborate on it a bit more.
The scene where the update now ends was going to be included in Update 8, but as I had some issues in how to make it good, I ended up resigning to the fact that to make it excellent and add the extra GLOW this part of the game needed. When we brainstormed the CG, we came up with some extra cool stuff for it, and I think everyone will like it, but in order to keep the schedule steady, I pushed it to the next update! It's hard to tell what Update 9 will contain as I DO have planned what events will follow even that scene, but I don't know how much will fit into Update 9!
I didn't want to spend TOO much time and too many updates in this more... chill time after the action and important events we had in Update 7, but just because things are calm, doesn't mean they're not exactly evolving. And I think that this is what will work for the pace of the game as a whole.
Sometimes it's hard, even for me, to balance the pace of the game with the pace of, well, the space between updates, heh. Worry not though, big events are in the horizon. BIG events. Some things I think people will really like to see, some things I think everyone will be surprised by... I can't wait. :)
For now, though! Ramblings aside! Progress on Update 8 is going smoothly. I don't feel confident to give any release dates yet, BUT, we're very close! I'd love to be able to do a beta release next week and, who knows, maybe even the Patreon release next week already too?! Who knows... ;)
