New Makeup Series! Day 1: Sesshomaru (Patreon)

I've been meaning to actually do another organized makeup series since the JoJo one last year, but there gave been so many things getting in the way and my makeup looks have just been sporadic and random.

Recently, the fight against toxic masculinity has become personal as I've been more and more open about my gender. Huge strides have been made in tearing down gender roles and toxic masculinity for cis men and it's become common and celebrated for cis men to embrace things like wearing makeup, nail polish, bright and pastel colored clothing, and all sorts of aesthetics that used to be deemed as "emasculating". However, the trans community is not held to the same standard. Trans men are still held to strict gender roles, forced to displace a certain level of "masculinity" in the way they dress and the aesthetics they like. Trans men are told they are invalid, "transtrenders", fakes, etc for something as small wearing makeup or doing the same exact cosplay a cis man would be celebrated for. I want to challenge that. My intention with this series is to paint myself, a transgender man, in the makeup looks of iconic, fan favorite, cis male characters who decorate their face in makeup or paint. I want to make people think "If this male character is a man underneath the makeup, why is the trans man underneath that any different?"

I haven't fully decided the list of characters I will makeup test so if y'all have any ideas, please feel free to share them! NOTE: I would like to stay away from characters who clearly live their day to day lives as women but are "revealed" to be men (i.e. Ryōji Fujioka from Ouran, Kuranosuke from Princess Jellyfish, Noriko from Fushigi Yuugi,) as these characters certainly fall somewhere on the trans/gender fluid/ gender non-conforming spectrum. I'm looking for male characters who are masculine presenting and wear makeup or decorative paint.


So far I have Sesshomaru, kusuriuri from Mononoke, Fujimoto from Ponyo, tengen Usui from Demon Slayer, Fierce Deity Link Majora's Mask,
