I started this project with a mesh nude leotard from Amazon. It came on the mail and didn't fit at all, so my friend Blue helped pin it to fit my contours and then I surged new seems on the sides so that it fits me like a second skin. I want to achieve a nude illusion with this, so I didn't want it to be baggy and obvious that I'm wearing a leotard. Applying the applique has been tedious and time consuming. First, I carerully cut out applique pieces from this beautiful fabric from Jo Anns, then I arrange and pin the applique to my body where I want it. After I have the pieces arranged in a way I like, I unpin them one at a time, cover the back in fabric tac, and then stick then press them into the leotard. Yes, this causes it to stick to my skin as well. No, it's probably not good for my skin. No, it isn't pleasant to peel off, lol. After a few hours of gluing down the little pieces, I take the leotard off and and stitch the applique to the leotard in some places to really secure it. I don't trust the glue alone. I put the leotard back on and start gluing fake flowers that I spray painted gold to it. Again, once it is dry, I take it off and hand stitch the flowers to the leotard. This is the process I'll be repeating until the leotard is completed.
