took a lil break from miu animations for a few day to animate the absolute madman, Barnaby from Billie Bust Up. Been wanting to animate wings for a WHILE now and this was a great excuse! Also I'm not used to doing more cartoony animation so this was interesting practice!!

WIPS:

Initial first pass! I wanted the flying to be the main animation since I was dying to animate flying again

decided I wanted to push the claws into more of a "grab" action. Right now, Billie Bust Up is still in development, but Barnaby's chase sequence has been a big part of promo material so I wanted to lean into that a bit more. Extended the canvas to push that pose more.

Not much changed, made the canvas bigger for the wings

First pass on roughs! I added some notes to myself for the acting

Wanted to push the animation a bit more, adjusted the follow through on the head.

Cleanup started!

Decided to start inbetweens early (before finishing cleanup) since I still wasn't entirely satisfied with how the animation looked in the earlier stage. It was an excuse to refine the animation and push it to be a tiny bit more expressive still! It can also be easier to do inbetweens after the main body is cleaned up and before smaller details like the face and accessories are added. Items like that bowtie are easier animated in straight ahead method, so I gotta make sure I have the body anim in stone before I add it.

Transparent color version! Lastly, I did a bit of extra effects in after effects to make it pop (as seen above)
