What an incredible episode! Such a unique story and it feels like it wouldn't be out of place in a book. Just brilliant and I love the way it all came together. SO many great moments in this one! I've since watched the full video of the DVD part and that was awesome. I really enjoyed this one. We've had some incredible episodes all in a row, now! Lucky us 🥰

HERE WE GO!! This episode is regarded as one of the best ever created.

Tobly

This is such a good episode, widely regarded as one of the best DW episodes of all time I have watched this episode hundreds of times before but the scene of the doctor telling them not to blink will always give me goosebumps Glad you liked it also :)

Martin Holt

Not only does this episode premiere one of the most sinister monsters in the DW universe, it fully embraces all the wild asshattery of time travel. Causes can be caused by causes caused by those causes, a guy can become his own father and mother and kill them both, and space tells time to get knotted while time takes a three-hour lunch. All of this is due to Steven Moffat, the writer of this episode. Send the bill for your migraine treatment care of the BBC.

Martin Holt

WEAK SPOILER: the creatures in this episode are called the Lonely Assassins. You will never hear them called this again. Because Weeping Angel sounds much more badass.

Martin Holt

A question: which version of the Angels do you guys think was scarier? The pointy-tooth snarling Angel, or the bulgy-eye pretty Angel?

Lime Pie

I love how the weeping angels are monster that exist entirely in the editing. I forget how I heard of them first, but I distinctly remember that I only started watching Doctor Who after I heard about them.

OverWims

I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue (I'm using the blu-ray's myself) but your version of the footage always seems to go slightly too fast for me. After about a minute, you're about 5 seconds ahead and when I reset the sync, it does it again. It's done this for quite a few different videos (I only watch your Doctor Who ones so no clue if it would do it for others). It could simply just be a speed issue with the blu-ray playback on my end or it could be a PAL vs NTSC issue but thought I'd mention it anyway. Edit: After playing around with a few extensions I have managed to make it play correctly by playing this video at 96% speed (the inbuilt speed options on patreon aren't this specific) and this seems to make it play in-sync for me. So for anyone else having a similar issue. This might work for you.

xjuliettex

I think the BBC iPlayer is the same speed as the episodes I'm watching. It's very frustrating that there are so many different versions of the one episode out there! I had the same problem with Buffy as there are multiple different DVD's with multiple speeds 😔 It's a big reason why I chose the HD remaster as there only seems to be one of that. Sorry about the hassle 😭

OverWims

No worries. Not your fault at all. I think it's just simply the bitrate of blu-rays that's the issue for me. I will probably stick with using blu-rays and changing the playback of your videos as if I use BBC iPlayer and it starts buffering I'll have to resync the videos again and it's far easier to just edit the speed once using an extension. I usually watch your youtube edits but for really good episodes like this and the upcoming ones, I don't mind rewatching the entire episode again.

I have been looking forward to this reaction since I recommended Doctor Who at the very beginning. I don't mean to be a pain but it would really be great if you reacted to House MD one day :)

Geo

Ah yessss, you've hit the home run of some of the most consistently high quality doctor who episodes (In my opinion) now, I'm very excited for the next couple of months of reactions. Everywhere from "human nature/family of blood" this season all the way until the end of next season are some of my favorite episodes. (not to say there aren't amazing episodes throughout all of the show). I can't wait :D.

Steven Cooper

The cleverest part of this brilliantly ingenious episode is never actually spelled out -- the idea that it's not just the characters looking at the Angels that freezes them into stone, it's the watching audience as well. That's why Sally didn't fall victim to them when she was upstairs with the group that had the TARDIS key; her back was to them, but we could still see them. And poor young Billy never got to have that drink with Sally because the director went for that extreme close-up as he blinked, letting the Angels get close enough to touch him... :-)

Paul Hess

What a great episode. It had 4 things and a Lizard! And then a lot of other stuff. Thanks Juliette for sharing with us. Your comments were exactly what I like so much about this episode: Georgeously done. Intelligently written. So much emotion and sadness. Those same three qualities remind me of Girl in the Fireplace, another favorite of mine.

hi Julie drift in sync of 2 streams is a common problem. what I do is to download 1 of the 2 data streams to my harddrive, and have only 1 stream coming in from the net when I watch the episode. Syncing 1 net connection and 1 local harddrive connection is easier to do and reduces the chances of net slowdown or buffering of the signal. anyway I throughly enjoyed watching Blink with you, as it is one of the best in Davids era of the show and he has a lot more to come

Hugh Diffey

Fun Fact is that the Weeping Angels are played by actual people, I think multiple beautiful stone statues would be a bit much for Doctor Who's budget, so they're played by gymnasts who can stay still for long periods of time

Gary Marshall

Who would have thought that in one of the best episodes of Dr Who we hardly see the Doctor at all. A great script and wonderful performance, particularly Cary Mulligan as Sally Sparrow. She has since become a big Hollywood star garnering 3 Oscar nominations for her acting roles.

xjuliettex

OMG I did wonder!!! I thought it was either people OR statues. Not stone, but some sort of clay. THAT IS SO COOL!!

Isac (Welsh_ML)

Been looking so forward to this one!!!!

Another all-time great by Steven Moffat. You have watched 3 of his episodes already (The Doctor Dances 2 parter and the Girl in the Fireplace). A name to keep in mind. I love how time travel was part of the plot and not just the device to get to a place. It was so clever and such a well-acted episode. And it is the second episode where the Doctor was barely there (after Love & Monsters). Glad you enjoy it and excited for the next episodes.

OverWims

The doctor refers to them as the weeping angels and says they used to be called the lonely assassins. They were always intended to be referred to as the weeping angels

TDA Entertainment

There's a reason I love David Tennant's Era of Doctor Who so much. It's not because I grew up with this Era (which I did) but to me the show just has so much more emotion and you may think I'm crazy saying this but realism. To me, it just immerses you so well into the universe and actually makes it feel like it's real!

SeeJay

iPlayer and Amazon Prime Video (for purchase) I've found will sync perfectly. It's not just Juliette but all reactors have the issue either with theirs running too fast for the American version or too slow for the UK version. The good news is by series 5 (maybe even before) it corrects itself. Whichever episode is first shot in HD is when all the versions begin to align beautifully.

SeeJay

So far it's 3 or 3 with Steven Moffat. He's a real genius of a writer. His episodes during the RTD era are always so highly regarded. I can't believe you are almost at the end of this season, I feel like we just started it a couple of weeks ago!

Martin Holt

My little Yaeonku Blu-Ray Player keeps up pretty well, as long as I don't have to pause anything.

Martin Holt

On my way home from work, I routinely pass this apartment building. One of the apartments has, apropo of nothing, a large plaster statue of a woman by the door. I don't linger there.

Martin Holt

A question: what does everyone think the Doctor was hunting down with a bow and arrows at the end of the episode? He said lizard, but otherwise... ideas?

OverWims

So from the 2nd of the specials. Looking forward to that then thanks.

Hot Space 🇬🇧

Blink is soooooo good and considered to be one of the best episodes in Dr Who. I love the whole coming together of the episode. Great Reaction! Can't wait for next week. 🙂😎

xjuliettex

I don't actually 😭 I need to get myself a full set of delicious DVDs! I can't find them on my streaming services!

xjuliettex

I've heard great things about House! I'm not looking to add any more reactions in for a while though, I'm sorry 😭

The Rising Ape

As others have said, this season, from Human Nature onward, is absolute gold. Not A Spoiler: In the next episode we see the wonderful Derek Jacobi and get a callback that many of us have been waiting for you to see. We're heading into seasons end now and I honestly can't wait for your reaction to it all.

gangsterpoptart

It's debatable but to me personally this a top 3 episode in all of New Who. My all-time favorite is many seasons away! Been watching along with you since you started and will continue. Please keep going!

xjuliettex

I would have to agree with you!! It was just SO brilliantly done. VERY clever!

Jerry Setty (SpTigerJD1)

Finally able to do Pateron. Your my 1st on here and happy to support you. Have to catch up on your reactions to the full episodes sometime soon. And, of course, will continue to watch your videos on YouTube.

xjuliettex

Jerry! Thank you so much 💜 please feel free to stay as long or as little as you'd like. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! It's only Thursday but I'm looking forward to it already haha
