early draft - new Pegasus illustration (Patreon)

Did a poll recently on which illustration project I should work on / continue and the VAST majority of you voted for completing the Bella Sara series, so that's just what I'm gonna do!

Continuing the series with a CHALLENGE I am eager to get into - A Pegasus doing bird-things like sitting in a tree. Do we ever see Pegasi doing bird things?? I can only think of a few rare examples of Pegasi acting like birds but NONE of those examples are from Bella Sara.  
In the card game I definitely have not seen a Pegasus SITTING in a tree yet. Not even ON a tree. Actually Pegasi resting is also a very rare occurrence, I've only spotted 4 illustration within 134 of Pegasi lying down and only one of those is of a Pegasus lying on a cloud.

Bella Sara is a bit all over the place with its lore to be honest. According to its "official guidebook", the Pegasi all live up in the clouds on a floating kingdom made out of various temples on floating rocks. But in the online game, your Pegasi all live in open "stables" up in tree tops! Why didn't we just keep it that way?? Let there be MASSIVE TREES in which Pegasi are nesting and resting, trees and branches big and strong enough to hold the weight of MULTIPLE HORSES on them! Now THAT would've been a sight to behold! And also far more comfy. What do horses need empty temples made out of stone and marble for?

ANYWAY, this will be my main draft to work from and I am very curious if I'll be able to pull off the pose and the environment and make it look believable. The design is based off a Fjord Horse mixed with the patterns of a bullfinch. I had the design prepared pretty much exactly a year ago, January 10th, and am happy I'm actually doing something with it now!
