Good afternoon, Patrons!

I hope your studies are going well. I've released updates for lessons 58 and 59 with high-quality native recordings. In lesson 58 I review some basic pitch-accent information, and cover some exercises I've picked up since starting the series. Lesson 59 we get into the 'special sound rule' and the 'katakana loan word rule', plus I introduce syllables into the series.

Hello Dōgen, I don't know if making requests for videos is appropriate in this comment section or not, but I was hoping that I could ask for a specific topic to be covered: Pitch Accent in names By trade, I use marketing principles routinely, and one of the most important things, so I've been taught, is the proper pronunciation and regular use of the other's name in conversation. This seems especially important in Japanese given how pronouns are rare and a barrier of formality comes with generic greetings. I became aware of pitch accent, like many, through your videos, but it's importance was solidified watching Yuta's channel cover pitch accent from a natives perspective. His position was less relevant than the example he gave of Kizuna AI ranting about people using the incorrect pattern for her name. I have been using OJAD to learn the pitch for certain people names at work here in the states, but I am unsure of it's validity, and considering the conversation I'm going to have with the owner of my company (who does not have English fluency) is likely to be a one off thing, and my intent is to make the best impression I can with my meager 3 months of study, I'm going with it for now. 川村 in the name in this case. OJAD said it was 平和, but I don't know how to know for sure without asking, which would defeat the point. If it's worth a video, I'll be excited to watch it. If it's not, I understand and will still keep using your course. Thank you so much!!
