Good evening, Patrons!

I hope your studies are going well. I just wanted to let everyone know that I've updated two more videos from the pronunciation sub-series with high quality native recordings. These are lessons 49, which covers  'b', 'p', and lesson 50, which covers 'm', as well as a mini-review of the sub-series up to this point.

Lesson 49
Lesson 50

Notes:

1. I took out one part of the review section in lesson 50 which covered vocal placement (now covered in Episode 5.1, Japanese voice and speaking style). This is noted in the video at approximately 3:34. For my current thoughts on said topic, please see the above link to lesson 5.1.

2. In the original version of lesson 50, when reviewing the pronunciation of えい and the Japanese 'B', I use the wrong pitch-accent for 招いて and 響く, respectively. I say 'maNEiTE' and 'hiBIKU', but these should be 'maNEite' and 'hiBIku'. I've since removed these recordings from the lesson, and left in only high quality native recordings of other words to explain these points.

3. In the near future, I'll be adding a small title to lesson 45 at approximately 3:30 which says, "pronunciation exaggerated for illustrative purposes." In this part of the lesson, I'm very slowly showing how a word like ドッグ can sometimes sound a bit like 'dokku', but I'd just like everyone watching to know that the pronunciation here is, again, exaggerated in order to note the point. Just after this bit there is a section with native recordings for ドッグ, and I would encourage all learners to use these to hear the concept in action, so to speak.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns with regards to this post, please don't hesitate to leave a comment. Thank you very much for the continued support, and good luck with your Japanese studies!
