HISTORY:

Reichardt placed 14th for Old Joy (2006), 9th for Meek's Cutoff (2011), 10th for Certain Women (2016), and 2nd for First Cow (2020).

This is Damon's eighth career appearance (a bar only 20 actors in Skandie history have reached), with his highest rank to date being #3 in Supporting for True Grit (2010). He's also placed 20th for Good Will Hunting (1997), 9th for The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), 15th for The Departed (2006), 4th for The Informant! (2009), and 12th for both The Martian (2012) and The Last Duel (2021). Remarkably low average as Groves suggests he was a category-filler for many people, and in fact was the very last name I added to my own ballot, when Supporting Actor was still one short. Mostly for his testiness when Groves pitches Oppenheimer the job.

Exarchopoulos is a previous Actress winner, for Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013); she also placed 20th in Supporting two years ago for Mandibles. Edebiri and Celıloğlu are new. (After all ballots were in, I was disappointed to see that Edebiri hadn't placed, only to discover hours later that I'd overlooked three different spellings of her name. Vaulted up once the software combined 'em. Also three folks voted for her in Supporting, which huh? Don't see how Bottoms could more obviously be a dual-lead comedy à la Step Brothers.)

Trenque Lauquen is the first (barely) Skandie-eligible film for the Lauras.
