[Another case in which I couldn't find the scene itself but did find a breakdown by the film's director.]

HISTORY:

Peele placed one notch higher at #11 for Get Out (2017)

Kidman's 11th career Skandies appearance places her in a tie for 4th all-time, behind Tilda Swinton (18), Isabelle Huppert (15), and Philip Seymour Hoffman (15). (The other two with 11 are Julianne Moore and Joaquin Phoenix). On top of which, she was among the five Oscar-style nominees in the survey's first year, for To Die For (1995) (but lost to Julianne Moore in Safe).

Dinklage makes his first appearance in nearly 20 years, having landed in exactly the same spot, #12, for The Station Agent (2003). Johnson and Lynch are new, though I feel as if we've seen the latter around here somewhere before...

Gray's screenplay for Two Lovers (2009, written with Ric Menello), likewise placed 12th. The two of them also landed at #17 for The Immigrant (2014), and Gray placed solo at #16 for The Lost City of Z (2017). Thankfully, we did not honor his achievement in penning Ad Astra's daddy issues.

The Fabelmans is a bad movie and if you voted for it you should feel bad.

Nicole Kidman has had a very interesting career. I wouldn't have guessed that she was one of the all-time leaders among Skandie voters - I think of her as more an Oscat-bait type - but, wow, she's made more interesting movies than I'd have remembered off the top of my head.

Is The Fablemens the lowest rated film (on the D'angelo scale) to make the top 20 at Skandies?

Anonymous

Went to check and kinda surprised ELEPHANT didn't make the top 20 in 2003.

Whenever I take a shot at GERRY or GHOST WORLD,* Mike will say "oh, you mean the film that placed 4th** in the Skandies." I now have the perfect rebuttal -- "and THE FABELMANS placed 12th in that poll too. Your point?" * first examples off the top of my head ** or wherever exactly

She's the Creedence Clearwater Revival of the Skandies. (They had five #2 hits -- Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Travelin Band/Who'll Stop the Rain, and Lookin Out My Back Door -- but never a #1.)

No. That would (I think; haven’t actually checked) be L’humanité (29/100).

Hating GERRY I understand but hating GHOST WORLD is pure insanity!

That is a bad grade and if you gave it you should feel bad.
