Actually, my copy of Man With a Movie Camera is a DVD, so it's gonna be Man With a Public Library Card and Corresponding Kanopy Account. Major blowout this week, with Vertov's silent classic pulling in 63% of the vote opposite first-timer Smile (the 1975 comedy starring Bruce Dern, not last year's horror movie). Another instance of successful resuscitation—I see that 10 of the film's 15 weeks as a poll option were from at least a couple of years ago. You never know when something will unexpectedly gain traction. 

In other, more disappointing news, my recent long review of Close (which those of you who don't follow me on Elon Musk's Cavalcade of Poor Business Decisions may not have seen, as I merely added the link to my previously posted Letterboxd "review") will be my final contribution to Alternate Ending, at least for the foreseeable future. I'm assured that this is strictly a financial decision, which is easy to believe—the site's a labor of love that has no real advertising to speak of, and I'm pretty sure they must have run a deficit paying me my standard fee for the past year. I'm grateful to have been able to keep the ol' professional-writing muscles limber throughout that time, and will now scout around for other opportunities. In the meantime, y'all get nothin' but exclusives.
