Just a quick note to explain what's gonna be a brief review hiatus this weekend. Because I skipped TIFF again, and they didn't offer a significant virtual option (as they had in 2021), I'm seeing more films than usual at AFI Fest: two so far, another three today (for which I'm heading out now), and then a four-hour behemoth tomorrow (by some of the people who made La flor, though not Llínas), plus another movie that I plan to rush with my pass. Given that I spend like three hours driving to and from L.A. every day, there's no time to write these up as I go, so you'll be getting one big report with capsule reviews on Monday, similar to past TIFF posts. And The Keep will have to, uh, keep until next week sometime. (That one was intentional.)

It's the same deal as last year where the "sold out" screenings are curiously at least 10% empty (from my experience with a "sold out" screening of the new Panahi and my friend strolling into the gala rush line for She Said premiere right at starting time without hassle). Just a heads up.
