Don't recall Predator getting much traction when it was originally requested a while back (indeed, I'd forgotten that it had been), but obviously the release of yet another sequel* made y'all a lot more interested. It fairly walloped the relatively little-seen We're All Going to the World's Fair, 62% to 38%. There are a bunch of beloved '80s films that I saw in theatrical release, didn't much care for, and haven't thought about or felt any particular urge to revisit since; Top Gun is one of them (which is why I still haven't gotten to Maverick, though I will eventually), and Predator is another. Think I was underwhelmed by the whole concept, but it's been 35 fucking years somehow and I don't really remember. (My indifference didn't stop me, in those days, from heading out to Predator 2, about which I remember literally nothing except that Schwarzenegger's not in it.) I will now investigate and file a report. Streaming on Hulu.

* Which I currently have no plans to see, based on okay-at-best reviews, though I'll watch the first 10 minutes and see whether it grabs me (as I do with pretty much every film that's not universally ignored or despised).

Are you likely to end up watching World's Fair under some circumstances - like for Skandies prep if it gets good reviews from some of your colleagues, etc. - or is the poll its only shot?

I only go back and watch W/Os for Skandies-voting purposes if they’re clearly among the year’s most wildly acclaimed films. There’s basically no chance that I’m gonna like them (my highest-ever rating for such a film is I believe 62, which is barely positive), so I’d have to feel like not having seen the whole thing constitutes dereliction of duty.

I'm pretty sure PREDATOR ended up in the head-to-head last time as well so it actually did get some traction.
