I'd assumed that Speed would win this week's poll by a sizable margin, simply because virtually everyone has seen it while comparatively few have likely watched Sleeping With Other People. But the underdog managed to squeak out a single-vote victory, which I guess makes Alison Brie the new Sandra Bullock or something. Sorry, Speed freaks, thought you had it in the bag. Sleeping's streaming via DirecTV or AMC+, neither of which I subscribe to, but it's also readily rentable from various other sources.

A single-vote victory?! Wow, it feels weird to be one hundred percent responsible for the winner. Sorry, Speed fans.

Feels even weirder for me as I was the Speed requester and changed my own vote to Sleeping earlier today after seeing that Mike thought the former was merely "fine" in '94 (and figuring that the latter has been in its poll long enough). It better have been worth it!

I don’t get the sense that many voters take this sort of thing into consideration, but Speed is a film that I’ve always intended to revisit anyway (you can find those in my Letterboxd “revisits” lists), whereas I’d likely otherwise never have watched Sleeping With Other People.

Yeah, I pretty much exclusively vote for the unseen pick (even though I'm not a fan of it in this case). Obviously enjoy your writing on classics and popular movies, but the request process feels like a unique (and challenging, given how much you've already seen) journey to steering you toward a new favorite

Sleeping With Other People...whoo hoo...while one of the great comedies of the 70's...Diary of a Mad Housewife remains at 1%. Feel like Eeyore.

I tried to watch this movie today. I got through maybe ten minutes. I'll be interested to see what Mike thinks and also what its fans think of it, because, man, I did not get this one.
