Nobody to blame but myself for this week's poll winner. While I thought it'd be fun to share the most-widely seen films (among my peer group) from the past two decades that I haven't seen myself, there was no need for me to point out that folks might opt to request them. D'oh! Mostly I just feel bad for fans of The Long Day Closes, which has now narrowly lost two weeks in a row. Then again, I'm gonna rewatch that at some point no matter what, whereas I might otherwise never have bothered with Watchmen (which is available via HBO Max and various other platforms). My review will likely amount to a tirade about the project's inherent futility, but I can't say that I'm not curious to see what Snyder did with a masterpiece that I've always considered utterly unadaptable.
Both of January's random-draw winners are defunct requests with comparatively few weeks of active duty—the minimum four in All That Jazz's case. I finally saw that and loved it in 2008, whereas my sole viewing of Faster, Pussycat (for which I likewise flipped) was way the hell back in 1995. Neither one appears to be streaming anywhere at the moment, but I own Criterion's Jazz Blu-ray and the Meyer can be found on YouTube.
Thanks as always to each and every one of you for helping to keep me afloat over the course of the past year in particular. Nightmare's almost over, hopefully.
