A close race this week, as Chilly Scenes of Winter—despite the in-tribute advantage of Joan Micklin Silver's recent passing—prevailed over The Long Day Closes with just 51% of the vote. Like Between the Lines (also a current poll request), this is one of those films I've been meaning to watch for ages and just hadn't gotten around to yet, in part because it rarely if ever screened in NYC during the two decades when I saw old movies almost exclusively in rep houses. A decent-looking copy is on YouTube, FYI, and that's how I'll likely be watching it.

Apologies for the paucity of reviews so far this year. My attention has been elsewhere, as you can perhaps imagine, though I did relax enough last night to finally polish off Small Axe. Thoughts on Education (my least favorite of the five) coming later today, and  hopefully a more normal pace will now resume. It'd sure be swell not to be in a constant ball of anxiety...

You’re in for a treat. If you’re a fan of Modern Romance, I think you’ll appreciate this rather dark take on being too hung up on the wrong person.
