Honestly don't know why I haven't seen Day of the Dead. Guess it just never happened to show up at a NYC rep venue at a time that I could be there, and doesn't have enough of a rep that I felt compelled to seek it out over the decade or so since I moved. But I'm happy to now be prodded by y'all into plugging this embarrassing hole...and while 14 weeks is about 13 weeks longer than I expected its victory to take, the timing turns out to be nearly ideal. It's available to stream from approximately four gazillion platforms.

No horror movies atop October's random drawing, though Prince of Darkness just missed. Both Les Rendez-vous d'Anna (which was still an active request, in its 34th week; another case of patience eventually rewarded) and Gold Diggers of 1933 (retired after 20 weeks; ditto)—neither of which I've seen either—are currently available via the Criterion Channel. Though I may not get to them right away, as I'll be focusing on this year's NYFF lineup for the next little while.

As always, my heartfelt thanks to each and every one you for being a part of this endeavor. Even those of you who want me to watch Rob Zombie's Halloween.

I similarly thought DotD (my choice!) was going to be chosen way earlier. Kept thinking of pulling it in the last few weeks. Very thankful it finally got through. And Slant Magazine has been a consistent champion of the film fwiw: https://www.slantmagazine.com/film/day-of-the-dead/

From what i’ve heard, Halloween is interesting, but the real interesting stuff is in the sequel.

Yay, my first ever random poll victory. Hope you have fun with Gold Diggers.
