Wasn't paying close attention myself (I like to be surprised), but comments suggest that Andre de Toth's Day of the Outlaw may have pulled off a last-minute victory, besting extremely longtime request Distant Voices, Still Lives 35% to 34%. (Day of the Dead finished a respectable third with 29%—pretty even split among the three choices.) Bit of a heartbreaker for the Davies fans, who've been waiting forever, but I promise I'll get to that one eventually no matter what happens in the polls and random drawings. As noted, Outlaw is streaming on the Criterion Channel, though it disappears at the end of August. I know absolutely nothing about it—not even who stars—and will go in just as cold.
