No, not really. But this week's head-to-head poll resulted in an exact tie—the first time that's ever happened in a race between just two films. And I don't really have a plan for what to do in this scenario, I'm afraid. Running the same poll a second time seems pointless unless I try to upsell the $5 tier and get more voters, which nah. (Or that's as close to doing so as I can stomach, anyway.) I considered just declaring both films the winner, but that could inspire the more devious among you to deliberately create ties in future, since votes can be (and frequently are) shifted in response to the outcome-in-progress. After giving it some thought, I've decided that in the event of a tie, choosing becomes my prerogative. So I'm gonna go with The Dead Zone, for four reasons:

1. I consider Cronenberg a much more important filmmaker than Besson.
2. The Dead Zone had already been on my list of films to revisit.
3. I feel pretty confident that The Professional will get another shot, am less confident that The Dead Zone would.
4. The Dead Zone is conveniently streaming free (for me) on Amazon Prime, whereas I'd need to rent The Professional, since I've cancelled Showtime.

My apologies to the half of the June Voting Body (sorry, only the Skandies crew gets to be the August Voting Body) who are now disappointed. Again, I suspect it won't be for long.

Reason #5: the Cinderella story of scrappy young George Hawtin, day-one member of the $10 tier, who's not only never had a film win the poll, but has never had a film get any traction at all in the poll, only to land his first win...like this. Thanks, Mike!

Saw those two fifties in the title and was preparing for a third in the review block.

In a way, they're both winners. In another, more inaccurate way, Dead Zone is the winner. :-D
