That's what Google Translate served up when I asked it for "The long wait" in Italian. 54% of you chose to finally end La Dolce Vita's year-long (and change) ordeal, thereby eliminating more than 50 entries in the next random drawing and significantly increasing every other film's chances. Speaking Parts, at 28 weeks, now becomes the oldest still-active request (though Distant Voices, Still Lives, which was recently substituted out, holds the true record with 31 attempts, and a couple of others got retired at 30). Challenger Hot Rod, requested just two weeks ago, will surely have another shot.

To my surprise, La Dolce Vita doesn't appear to be streaming on the Criterion Channel right now, despite being one of their releases. Nor anywhere else, for that matter. I have the Blu-ray, thankfully, but apologies to anyone who would have taken this opportunity to watch or revisit it and can't. Hopefully they'll work the bugs out of this no-more-video-stores landscape one of these days.
