Another fairly close race this week, with 53% of you ultimately preferring Fast Times at Ridgemont High to Lupin III. I was too young (14) to see Heckerling's R-rated film in 1982, only catching up with it a decade or so later; this will be my third viewing, first since '99. Also my first since discovering (just hours ago, in a total coincidence) that the actor who plays Rat won the Woody-Allen-Kindred-Soul Contest.

Do you recall the first R-rated movie you saw in a theater at 17?

I was expecting the random draw this week (thought it was usually around the 15th) - will that be next week?

It's usually on the 15th. Which is tomorrow. (Sometimes I delay it a day or two to coincide with the weekly poll results; wasn't necessary this month.)

I do not. I remember seeing Kramer vs. Kramer in 1979, because JoBeth Williams has a nude scene that blew my 11-year-old mind. But that film is PG, apparently. My dad and stepdad had taken me to numerous R-rated films by the time I turned 17 (just not Fast Times, wouldn't have been their thing), so it wasn't an Event or anything. Looking at the 1985 release calendar, I imagine it would probably have been Rambo, released a month after my 17th birthday (and which I saw on opening day, which was my high school's last day of final exams).

I was disappointed that the usually strict box office worker didn't ask for my i.d. I was totally ready to put on a little show. Oh well.
