Partly because I'm currently recovering from oral surgery—I somehow cracked a lower molar so badly that it was unsalvageable and had to be pulled—and partly because the time has finally come for me to tackle Out 1, which demands the number of hours that I'd normally spend watching at least six films. We'll resume in what I like to call half a fortnight, because that's very confusing and doesn't repeat a word that I used in the post's title.

(For what it's worth, the experience of actually having the tooth pulled is surprisingly quick and painless. What hurts is the aftermath, and then eventually the three grand or so that you have to spend on an implant unless you're okay with having your other teeth shift around and screw up your jaw.)

Wishing you a speedy recovery Mike!

Thanks much. It’s not a big deal, really—just some minor discomfort (which I’m told will be over in a few days), and then it’ll be weird having a gap there for the several months you need to wait before getting an implant. At least it’s a tooth that’s not generally visible to others, so my vanity won’t be dinged.

Silver pirate tooth perhaps?

I had a tooth pulled a couple of months ago. Yes, the aftermath is annoying. I avoided the use of (stronger) medication and this was fine because I didn't have problems falling asleep. No implant for me (yet). They're too expensive—dentistry is the only part of Norwegian medical care that is not covered by the government. My dentist told me that many just continue living on without getting implants (if they're lucky enough to have this impact other teeth).
