Week two's poll was even more of a squeaker, ultimately decided by a single vote. Phantom of the Paradise again is the bridesmaid (sorry, Scott), while the winner, The King of Comedy, was suggested by the very same person who'd suggested last week's champ, Blue Velvet (review coming later today). Can he keep the streak going in perpetuity by sticking with '80s classics by legendary American directors? There aren't a lot of those films left that I haven't rated, but Cronenberg's The Fly is still available...

(Belatedly remembered that Cronenberg isn't American, but you know what I mean.)

((And now Nick Adams, who requested King of Comedy, points out that he was not the person who requested Blue Velvet. That was Kris Dotson. Their requests in this week's comments were adjacent and I misattributed. There is no monopoly! Whew.))

(Scott, you'll be getting my thoughts on a new-to-me De Palma this week anyway, thanks to Criterion's release of Sisters.)
