Celina - Guys My Age (Patreon)

Ok so I want to say this...I’m trying REALLY hard here. I planned this piece out after Celina told me she really wanted to do a video. She started suggesting songs which is usually something I don’t offer, but I was willing to give it a shot. So after she sent me a few, I picked out this one and started planning; it took several outfit changes and even a location change, which I believe this is the first time I’ve ever done that. If it has happened before it was totally by accident, but this one was intentional and 40 minutes of extra driving was done just for a teeny portion of the video.

But the reason I am saying that I’m trying, is because I can still see so many areas that I failed to accomplish my vision. Between technical issues, and let’s face it - my incompetance, I missed a few things and didn’t get exactly what I wanted. But then again I doubt there are many films in existence where the director felt they truly got it to be the exact way they wanted (I would find it difficult to believe if No Country for Old Men didn’t fall into that category though.)

Further there were some limiting factors comfort wise, which I did not know were going to be an issue when I planned it, so at least I can shirk a teeny bit of the blame :P

So if you happened to read this before watching, I’m guessing you are probably thinking it’s a pretty crappy video...but I want to say I am still quite proud of it and I think it’s a damn fine video. There is one transition from downtown to the wilderness of the outdoors that I feel like I nailed PERFECTLY. It was the biggest inspirational “OH MY GOD THAT WOULD LOOK SO COOL” moment when I was planning and I thought of it. My only complaint about the wilderness scene is it wound up being too dark and you couldn’t see the environment at all. Just know, we are outside in an old parking lot that has been vastly overgrown, and it was definitely creepy heading out there at 11pm at night. 

Also right as we got dressed and we were packing up a big SUV pulled up and a guy rolled down the window and started asking us questions and just generally being a huge creep. It was pretty clear he saw Celina dancing and came over to get a closer look. We just answered his questions poorly and he could tell we were annoyed and he left very abruptly. All in all a very strange experience and one I would not want to go through again considering how badly it could have went. The things I do for Art :P
