I have a theory... Remember when Africa asked that dog if her pack would help Safari? What if this is their idea of "helping"? From a human standpoint , Safari is beyond saving. He's got open wounds, an infection that's been festering for months, and is a walking skeleton. He's never going to get better and any attempt to try and save him would only prolong his suffering. At least he got to see "Dada" again and died happy. (Assuming that's what actually happened here.)

That's actually what I was thinking. Someone saw an animal beyond rehabilitation and is taking action to end it's suffering and stave off the risk of it getting desperate. That they would do it at a sweet interpecies freindship moment is sad. But he was at the height of happiness.
