Loved working on the symbolism for this page, even though it was quite tough to write. Mosi is battling his instincts yes, but his resentment as well. Africa on the other hand, understands that both cubs are in the same boat.

I love the symbolism of Africa's words cutting through Mosi's resentment by having the background just be pure black. Then when she speaks again the sun is high in the sky. Like either a ray of enlightenment or a light bulb hopefully going off in Mosi's mind about Mondo as he considers that the kit had no role in his mother's actions. Sabra's bad choices were hers alone.

Poor Mondo. I feel sorry for him. He hasn't had a good start in life. I also feel sorry for Mosi. He has been through so much in his short life. He's been mentally and physically traumatized. It's no wonder he has conflicted feelings about Mondo. Mondo is, after all, innocent in all of this. PS: I have a Hansa serval plush named Sabra :)
