WIP #Map 60: #1 (Patreon)

I want to start showing you more work in progress so you guys can follow along the journey of the maps being made. I have not decided yet how heavy I will be going into the WIP but I hope you enjoy what I do show you.

Below you will see the Imperial Palace coming into shape. I have started with working out the key locations with simple shapes and now I am working on filling them with the first level of detail.

First thing up is the walls! Starting with basic foundation layer walls, I will build up the detail with some nice ornate finishes with lovely gold trims.

I am also looking at a fair amount of reference for "imperial palaces" to get the correct feel for the map. Below you will see an example of the style I will be aiming to emulate.

This awesome concept art from dragon age is exactly the kind of ornate feel I am going for. Though this map will be the imperial palace fitting an Aasimar, I will have to do some digging to bring this aspect across in the architecture.
