The boys start with a roundtable discussion of 9/11 and modern fashion trends. Then, we take a look at the New York Times new in-depth reporting on Yeshiva schools in NYC failing to teach children basic skills, and how that relates to the state & purpose of public education in general. Finally, Will has sourced an exquisite reading series on the passing of the Queen by Chicago’s own Jon Kass.

The live shows are awesome. Nothing will beat the energy of the Bernie era live. ❤️

Unless your politics doesn’t end at worshipping Bernie Sanders. Aka myself and any other person who’s country was ruined by western “leftists” apathy and hatred of us in the global south.

You guys gotta cover the railroad strike this could be as historic as it would be disastrous

oh just people who need oil, coal, base construction materials, iron, cars, car parts, bulk chemicals, lumber, B737 aircraft bodies, millions of commuters and long-distance passengers, farmers needing to ship out their harvest

Amtrak also just cancelled all consumer rail trips in preparation so people done die because they rely on those railroads for their tracks and switches so thousands of people just got stranded

US RRs are one of the scummiest industry imaginable, I hope they eat shit and have to do huge service reforms

The nostalgia around the time of the Sanders campaigns is upsetting to some of those who still need more progress to be done and want to push forward. You’re not wrong for saying they were good times but let’s not also think that we don’t have better times ahead is what I guess I’m trying to say. 🙏✊

@Will we were both in the case center watching it on the big screen

While articles like this Kass piece are definitely funny, they are also a tad infuriating because you know that millions of people in the US hold a similar strength of cognitive dissonance about this topic and from so many angles. Chief among them: “I miss the days when this country was meritocratic!!! So anyway back to praising this person who got their status & wealth purely through royal association.” Reminds me of the myriad bad faith takes on the student loan forgiveness controversy. Also, why are super patriotic Americans so fond of British royalty? Wasn’t the inception of the US predicated on banishing monarchy? On sticking it to the king and queen? “Don’t Tread On Me” and all that?

Zach Lemon

I agree with your sentiments on monarchy, but let's remember our rubecestors wanted to make George Washington King. Really we were predicated on allowing tea smuggling and killing Indians west of the Appalachians to clear the land for chattel slavery and white farming. Still, being pro monarchy is super weird, especially if you're 'Murican.

American who also hates Diana and all monarchies here. I will agree with Jon Kass on one point. It was a poor artisitc choice for Elton to repurpose Candle In The Wind for Diana. The most perfect thing would be if the dude learned how to play Maurice Ravel's Pavane for a Dead Princess. That would have been sick. Elton, putting aside his voice to play an appropriate classical piece. An opportunity lost! Also: Irish Unity took a big fucking step forward today. The bitch is in her tomb. She didn't live to see the union break up. It will soon be time for Ireland to unify and become a great nation for the very first time.
