We hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. After last week’s coverage of the politics of the Roe reversal, we now move on to taking a look at the media, because boy is the consent manufacturing machine whirring into gear. Will looks at a trio of pieces from the New York Times that appear to be buttering up the readership to place the blame squarely on those least responsible, plus time well-spent on a profile of the most annoying people on Earth!

Ty for the misoprostol clarification but I do think it’s worth noting that a blood/urine sample of a recently pregnant woman will show for a while that she was recently pregnant so concerns abt a nurse or doctor asking how/why she’s no longer pregnant still stand.

I do appreciate you guys reading the NYT and various other oligarch rags. Just as Matt endures watching SNL and I personally watch CNN it's nice to see others you haven't cavorted with reach the same conclusions about these...people? by proof of their own medium. So you can at least hope you aren't an insane idiot that just isn't "getting it" because you didn't "study economics." I remember watching Fox News as a lad and feeling some catharsis when Jon Stewart covered a specific moment and people laughed so I knew it was as crazy to others as it seemed to me. Without watching these things I would have no idea the machinations of the ruling class since their pursuits are so divorced from human reality. For whatever reason they still use the vestigal propaganda organs to cajole a population they don't really respond to anyway. I've started to find the economic rags a little more interesting in that respect of telling you what's coming. In related news recessions are good actually and owning a house for ooold people eeewwwww.

Yeah on the TERF question it is, as usual, structurally the opposite of how the democrats are selling things. Attacking tanswomen was always an attack on women broadly, and it was always the case that the TERF position was a position not for defending women but rather for destroying women's rights. The fact that transwomen were thrown under the bus over the past four years is part of why this attack on women generally is now possible. Because a transwoman is a woman (because the category 'woman' is in some sense the universal category) the ability to treat transwomen like shit maps directly onto the ability to treat women generally like shit.

Idk, I’d say there are some very real women’s rights being lost when biologically male folks are put into women’s prisons, allowed into women’s bathrooms, or allowed to compete at high levels in women’s athletic competitions. Add on top of that the fact that Planned Parenthood and many Democrats REFUSE to even say the word “women” now? I think the woman from the article is wrong to blame Roe overturning on the trans community, but there are some pretty serious gripes to have.
