Robbie, as a former theatre kid, I used to run lines the same way. And I also sucked at memorization. I feel ya, bud!

SnazzyO

This episode bugs me for the obvious reasons (potential rape, rushed ending) but also for the failing to explain why Tom had spent hundreds of hours in the Grease Monkey program in the first place. On the one hand, good on Tom acknowledging he needed a change of pace, but the argument with B’Elana was straight up OOC. He was an asshole and he wasn’t possessed. Why? And it’s all resolved with a little cutesy scene? I don’t think so. I think B’Elana should have accepted his apology but said something like, ‘that doesn’t get you off the hook. There was something wrong before Steph abducted your body.’ I think root cause was reductive writing. Tom used to be a bad boy, let’s randomly dig that up for our plot - no need to explain. In universe, they could have gone with 1) Tom self-sabotaging his own happiness because he’s never had this kind of stability (root cause lie self esteem), or 2) Recurrent nightmares from the 19 days under Hirogen control - and Tom is ‘self soothing’ with a mindless pursuit, or 3) It’s a really boring part of space and his ADHD has never been treated Something.! But you don’t hide from your gorgeous girlfriend and perform in lackluster fashion for no good reason. Of course the better solution would have been to write a better dialog for the mess hall scene. With B’Elana. That is the scene that really was inexplicable. Just keep the denial part and being uncommunicative. Have B’Elana walk out because he’s not telling her what’s wrong. The harsh pushback was all wrong.
