Having worked in reatail a for years, in different stores, and later on in administration in different businesses ... there is no job out there that does not have an example of exactly this! 15 Minutes breaks were normal, and 30 minutes for lunch, at your desk or station, was something you had to be gratefull for. Not back at your station, or desk, in time? Well, looks like someone is not doing their job ... uuuugh. And the smokers? They were allowed a lot more, short, breaks ... I even contemplated smoking at one company, just to be able to take a break. LoL
