Alright so I FINALLY got around to watching this. Got a LOT to say. I'll try to cut it down as much as I can, sorry in advance for the incoming wall of text, I'm a verbose lad. First, YOUR reaction to this Finale is the one I was looking forward to the most. I mentioned it in an episode way earlier, about how it's a nice change of pace to see the perspective of someone with more life experience than the average internet goer, since you seem to see things from a much more mature perspective and it's something I massively appreciate after having sat through years worth of brainrot. Second, I always had mixed feelings on the manga version of this ending for a number of reasons, but ultimately I thought it was a fitting ending to the story and the anime's small additions here and there elevate it to what I think is a GREAT ending. Bittersweet, Uncertain, but ultimately still Hopeful, because that hope is what's necessary to bring out the best in people and allow there to be good times in the first place. Third, hearing about the mangaka tearing up and apologizing to fans for his ending seriously pissed me off for a while, and kind of still does. The manga's ending, and really the entire final arc, was highly polarizing for the fandom for a variety of incredibly stupid reasons, and for a while it became and unbearably toxic cesspool. The backlash that led to him feeling this way I imagine, came from the sheer amount of negativity, sparked from short sighted snap judgements, armchair "criticism", shattered headcanons that made no sense, and memes. The fucking memes. "It was all pointless" = Wrong "Eren turned into a bird" = Didn't fucking happen "Cringevengers" = Childish bullshit "Floch was right" = ???? "Fraud Isayama" = Just fucking gross behavior Being a fan of Attack on Titan was just not fun for a while. EVERY SINGLE DISCUSSION about attack on titan would either devolve into a "hurr durr ending bad me smarter than author" argument, or inevitably be met with a troll who chimes in with that garbage. Just a never ending parade of slack-jawed idiots who let out of context jokes and recycled NPC responses do the thinking for them. The "titanfolk" reddit is pretty much a septic tank, just a waste dump full of people calling the author a hack because their personal fanfic wasn't validated. This is why I'm glad this finale exists, and why the anime only watchers responses have been so positive, and why YOUR REACTION in particular is the one I decided to watch first. I think we need more people in the world who are actually capable of using their brains, who can provide unique perspectives instead of just puking up the garbage they consume online. I'm really glad I started watching your content, it really brightens up my day. :D

while i certainly don't approve of harassing the author, and i can't speak for the viciousness of the fandom, seeing as i make it a point to stay away from most fandoms, as i truly believe in the old quote "a person is smart. people are dumb, panicky dangerous animals", i feel that there is at least some validity to the "it was all pointless" argument. or at least i can see where people are comming from; especially after the extending ending. as you might recall, the original manga ended just after the scene with the group on the boat and the bird wrapping the scarf around mikasa (which by the way, while you do seem to vehemently despise the "eren turned into a bird" notion, does hold some very obvious implications of eren indeed having been reincarnated as that specific bird. why else would a random bird just decide to wrap mikasa's scarf around her? something, which i might remind you eren did several times throughout the manga to make her feel better. it would also be a rather poetic end to his character, with him finally having earned his wings, allowing him the freedom to travel wherever he pleases, as he always wanted to), before dropping the extended ending completely unexpected a few weeks/months later. in all honesty, i do believe that when most people say they hate the ending, they were talking about the extended ending specifically, and less so about the original one. in the original ending, everyone we followed so far who survived until the end gets a sort of happy ending, and, while even that gets cheapened a little by the very heavy implications that that probably won't last very long, given we are already seeing people gearing up for the next conflict, there's still hope for a better future. the extended ending however solemnly shoots down that idea. as we can clearly see, nothing changed. wars continue to be fought, the pointless bloodsheds continues despite everything that people experienced, and, depending on your take of the ending, even the whole titan thing is just gonna repeat itself too, with the kid being the next ymir fritz. wasn't the whole point of the war to create a lasting peace, either by wiping out the eldians or by wiping out everyone except the eldians? wasn't that the whole point of all the fighting? to create a better future? and yet, from a more cynical standpoint, everything anyone in the story ever did ultimately amounted to zilch, as the world just continues fighting and killing each other as if nothing ever happened. so what was the point? why all the bloodshed and suffering, if it doesn't affect anything in the end? now, i'm not saying this is necessarily a bad ending. if anything it's a very realistic take on how things would turn out. heck, how things turned out in our world. after WW1, WW2, and all those fights before and after. so it's not like i don't get it. it's a very "enjoy what you have right now and make the best out of it" type of narrative. it's all just ... very bleak and not necessarily how i would have wanted the story to end. that said i can still enjoy it for what it is and don't hate it or hold any grudges against the author.

I'm glad you enjoyed the series reaction as a whole, always bring a smile to my face that it resonates with someone especially in a sea of (stop talking, stop commenting soo much) whenever I upload things on YouTube. In that regard I can only imagine what the author of a series with millions of followers gets.... To your 2nd comment I think back to the famous saying: Hard Times Create Strong People Strong People Create Good Times Good Times Create Weak People Weak People Create Hard Times The final chapter is essentially the third line, but humans never learn, do they?
