"Never in my life have I needed something so much and never known until I received it.." -Vegeta, DBZA jokes aside, i'm really looking forward to your reaction to this. probably not much i can add to this one though; not that my usual comments are all that insightful or helpful. you are probably more familiar with nordic history and culture than i'll ever be. still vinland saga is widely considered to be one of the best anime ever, and it, alongside kingdom, which is based on the chinese quin unification wars, and vagabond, which focuses on the live of one of the most famous swordsmen in japanese history, musashi miyamoto, are among the best semi-historical mangas/animes of their time. as i'm sure you noticed some of the events are indeed historical accurate, at least from the little we actually know about norse history (seriously, norse, you have an alphabet, use it to write down stuff!), but of course there's also quiet a bit of fiction thrown in. both thorfinn and leif, the guy from the beginning who went to america, or vinland as the norse called it, are based on a real historic figures (thorfinn karlsefni and leif erikson), as was harald, the guy who declared himself king in the flashback (aka harald "bluetooth" gormsson). anyways, enough rambling. as i said, i'm really looking forward to your take on this show and hope you're gonna enjoy this.
