didn't get to comment on any of these episode lately because i came down with the big c, so i was out for the last two weeks, but man, do i love the axis cult. their feverish, and often outright cultish, devotion to auqa's teachings is just so amusing to watch. especially the blatant ways they try to trick people into joining them. but hey, who wouldn't be on board with a creed that's basically just "screw consequences, just make the best life for yourself in any way you can" and "if things go wrong, it's never my fault but everyone else's". her church pretty much attracts the exact people you'd think it would. it also explains why aqua is as highly ranked as a goddess as she is, despite sucking at pretty much everything. in a system where faith equalls power, aqua's followers being completely devoted to her teachings, no matter how insane they actully are, would grant her quiet the boost in power and therefore status. anyway, to address one thing that was skipped in the anime regarding the end of the alcanretia arc: it was explained in the epilogue of the book that people later found out that the hot springs being gone thing was actually really more of a trade off. not a bad one either. sure, alcanretia doesn't have its hot springs any more, but, thanks to aqua, all the water flowing through the city was turned into extremely high class holy water. it heals all injuries when bathed in and can be used to destroy undead, so you can actually make quite a bit of money off of it. in fact, selling the holy water might even be more lucrative than their hot spring business was.
