First, allow me to say blah blah blah another great episode. Honestly Avatar: The Last Airbender is just 99% great episodes with only like ONE dud (The Great Divide, that one sucked ass). Second, I think I mentioned in a previous comment that there was another episode that unnerved me as a kid and this is the one. Everything involving Lake Laogai from the secretive sinister nature of it to Joo Dee and the brainwashing (which may or may not have given birth to a weird fetish but let's stay on topic) to Jet's death, I considered it one of the darkest episodes in the whole show for a while. Won't elaborate further for obvious reasons. Third, this is easily one of my favorite moments with Iroh. It's always cathartic when the nice, patient types finally put their foot down and get assertive. You can tell that as much as Iroh loves Zuko, he's sick to death of watching him spiral down a path of unhappiness just to achieve a goal that he knows won't fulfill him instead of living in the moment and enjoying what good fortune he has. It's painful watching someone you care about slowly but surely fuck themselves over, Iroh is the best possible thing in Zuko's life right now. As a character he's just relentlessly likable in basically every way.

I always like to remember Iroh was probably very comfortable in the fire nation even with his younger brother as the Fire Lord. Heck he probably didn't even care because it meant he could actually do things for himself rather than continue a pointless war. He left that behind to look after Zuko. That says a lot.
