how does the old saying go? necessity is the mother of invention. pretty sure part of the reason why they were installed that mentality of perfectionism over so many generations was that japan, as an island nation, doesn't have many resources to spare, so it became necessary to make the most of the little they had. of course these days it's a bit of a different matter, but things are slow to change i guess.

Yeah, humans in general judge first, ask questions later. I'm actually glad they made it front an centre in the Joker movie. Mental illness and conditions aren't a choice and the isolations those with them experience is simply heart-breaking. Heck even Arcane shows glimpses but we can never truly understand unless we actually went through it ourselves, and it is terrifying.
