well, not only the fon't of the opening is medieval germanic, the first couple of lines in both of the opening are spoken in german, although rather mangled and not very well pronounced, if i'm allowed to say so myself, with some extra german words sprinkled in for flavor like the oh so emphatsied "flügel der freiheit". i won't bother translating them, as they are translated in the subs already, but the show never really made a secret of its germanic inspiration regarding certain things.
