Update Post! April 2nd (Plus Preview!) (Patreon)

Good evening Patrons, it's time for the first update post of April! 

Important Information Regarding the next Patreon Stream

Alright, everybody remain calm: I got a copyright strike.

Remember last year, when Kenny Omega used my Hopes and Dreams remix for his final Wrestle Kingdom entrance, and I played the video of his entrance during a Patreon stream?

A few months ago, I received a copyright claim notice on that archived stream video. Just to note: claims are not the same as strikes (for instance, the latest song, All I Want, was claimed immediately, but that was to be expected). A claim only means you can't monetize the video and if it was monetized previously, it gets demonitized on your end and any monetization then put on the video gets paid to the claimant (or, occasionally, is shared). No big deal.

Then a few weeks ago, I received an email that this particular archived stream video was taken down and I had received a copyright strike over it. It's an incredibly lame situation, considering this was an unlisted archived stream video that probably had no more than 100 views, but there's nothing we can really do about it except move on. I did try emailing the claiming company to see if there were some way to have the strike lifted and just have me remove the video manually, but have yet to receive a response and honestly I don't expect to.

The good news is that strikes get lifted after 90 days, so it should be gone by June. The bad news is that you can't stream on Youtube if you have a copyright strike on your channel, which is just a little bit absurd, but again there's not much I can do about it for the time being. You're also not allowed to stream on any other YT channels or you risk getting terminated, meaning I'm technically not allowed to stream on a channel like Atmacoustics like I've been doing sometimes.

While it's likely I wouldn't get caught streaming on a different YT channel like Atmacoustics, I'd rather not run that risk, so instead I'll be holding the next few streams on Twitch until the strike is lifted. Private streams are no longer an option on Twitch, so instead I've made a 'secret' account and will make un uncategorized/untagged stream, so the chances of random people showing up is pretty much 0... but even if they do... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

So if you want to participate in chat during that stream, you'll have to make a Twitch account, but just like Youtube, anybody can view it so long as they have the link. The next Patreon stream will take place at our usual date and time: April 5th (Sunday), starting around 3:00 PM US Central.

Now that the slightly ugly news is out of the way, let's talk April! First, a quick look at the to-do list:

Life Will Change (preview of the intro section included!) will be the next song up. This one should be finished and ready to go by early next week! I'll likely be following it up with Confronting Myself, then Area 1, then Zinogre. I might be able to squeeze Sleeping Terror or Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly into April, but if not, they (and worse case scenario also Zinogre) might fall into May.

And you know what else happens in May...

MAY MADNESS!

The last day for May Madness voting was Tuesday, and I've been watching the results closely and have been deciding between quite a few songs for this year. There are a lot of spectacular options that I really want to get to, but before I make any confirmations, I'm going to mess around with them and go with the ones I feel best about, so I won't be making any reveals yet (aside from the already revealed SSB Brawl Main Theme remake). I'll confirm all of this year's remakes (as well as going over some of the results from the Patreon post and public form) in about 2 weeks!

On a final note, I hope you all have continued to be safe during the COVID-19 Pandemic (which I've talked about in the last update post). Like I said before, if anyone has to cancel their pledges or anything like that for financial reasons, I totally understand. These are strange times we're going through right now, for some worse than others, so I know we all have to do what we have to do to remain secure. Hopefully this will all be over with and behind us soon.
