Update Post! July 29th (Patreon Appreciation Month approaches!) (Patreon)

Hello Patrons! August is right around the corner and that means it's about to be that special time of year that I like to call Patreon Appreciation Month!!

Last year I typed up a lengthy, more in-depth biography about myself and GaMetal. Rather than repeat that this year, I'll just leave a link to it for those newer Patrons interested in reading it (or older ones who want to re-read it I suppose, haha): Patreon Appreciation Month (a story...) 

Before I talk about August, I'll give you a quick July update/overview. I didn't get nearly as much done this month as I wanted: I spent some time working on Side-Quests 2 songs while also getting together Unknown From M.E. the first part of the month. When that was finished I got derailed by a couple of things: first my audio interface (the thing I use to record) conked out on me, so I had to order a new one and wait on that to come in. To make matters worse, I've had a bit of a light flu the past week that escalated big time on Friday while I was editing together the Courtney Gears video. I'm fine now, but that kicked my butt for a couple of days. Basically, it's been a month of rough luck for me xD. At the very least, Steel Beowulf is just about finished and the video should be up on Tuesday, so we're still hitting our 3-song-per-month quota. I was hoping to get Save the World in before the month ended, but I decided not to go too crazy since I've been a little ill and all.

I'll be giving August everything I got, and I'll also be plugging it as the GaMetal Summer of Shred! I really want to clear out a bunch of this to-do list, so I'm going to treat August and September like another May Madness sort of deal. 

Now, let's talk about what Patreon Appreciation Month will entail this year!

Just like last year, rather than drawing 1 song and hand-picking another, I will be drawing three songs from the Patreon Request List during the next drawing on the 5th of August. I will also be drawing 10 songs to be a part of the next NES Medley, PLUS 10 songs to be a part of our first ever Game Boy Medley (for those wondering, this will be limited to only Game Boy and Game Boy Color games this time around, I feel like GBA would add too much to the song pool so we'll save it for another time, perhaps even as it's own medley).

I'm also going to do something else special for you all this year: A non-live Patreon-only Q&A video! I know not everyone is able to make it to my Q&A streams, or even the Patreon streams, so I'd like to take the time to answer any question you all would want me to answer on screen. This video will only be made available to you all! :D

On a side note, I know I still owe you guys a 'Funny YT Comments' vid, I just want you to know I didn't forget and I've been saving all the funny ones I've been coming across. I'll keep you updated when that is about ready. :)

Since we're almost at 300 Patrons this year, I'm going to have an entry form (via Google Forms) for you to fill out to help me keep track of things, where you can enter your song entries and Q&A question. Like so:

There's a lot on the to-do list, and August's drawing will be adding even more to it, but I'm hopeful to have the to-do list down to something like 3-4 songs by the end of September. Here's how it's looking at the moment:

To help quell the to-do list becoming too OP, I've held off on adding any more extra drawing milestones until we get caught up. You guys/gals have been so awesome and generous that we kept reaching the milestone goals every month, sometimes twice, and now I need to get caught back up for you! xD

That about wraps up what we're looking at for August, but I do have one more thing to discuss that should be coming in Late August. Are you familiar with Clone Hero?

For those unfamiliar, Clone Hero is the spiritual successor to games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, but it's entirely community driven. I recently had a talk with popular Twitch Streamer Jason Paradise, known mostly for his Guitar Hero and Clone Hero streams, who shared with me his idea to feature artists/remixers on his stream by playing charts from said artist's songs, while having them on stream talking about the songs at the same time. The main Clone Hero developers are also backing this and working to get popular artists and remixers involved, and I'm happy to announce GaMetal will be a part of this project! They've gotten together a team of elite charters to work on various songs and projects, and we will be releasing a massive 50-song GaMetal chart pack for Clone Hero in late August, which should also coincide with the aforementioned Jason Paradise stream. I'll give more details on this project when we draw closer to completion, but for now you can check out a Teaser Mix Video here. (Created by Roy Knight, who has been spearheading the development of the pack over the past month and is also a fellow Patron! :D).
