Hey everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I am launching the last set of maps to support the latest and most epic adventure published by Lunch Break Heroes: The Embers of Hubris.

In case you missed it, you can find the first two sets of maps on these posts:

4 Maps of Mourninghold, along with the PDF adventure

2 Maps for the first two Guardian Doors

For today's release, there are two more maps to support the last few maps needed for the combat encounters of this adventure. This makes a grand total of eight maps total! The maps released today are:

  • Guardian Door 3
  • Broken Pillar

As your players fight the third guardian and enter the door to collapse the third support pillar of Mourninghold, they will for sure get The Architect's attention as they bait it into their trap. Will your players be able to resist the multiple waves of horrid creatures and The Architect to make their daring escape from Mourninghold?

The maps provided here support the third Guardian Door and broken pillar for the last two encounters listed in the adventure.

Guardian Door 3

As your players enter a large open carven, they step into about 3 feet of murky, stagnant water. Looming at the far end of this cavern is a massive door made of brass with living organic matter writhing on the walls, alluding to The Architect's vulnerable interior.

They spot a dead Remorhaz curled up in the center of the cavern, partly submerged in water as undead zombies shamble around. However, the creature is not as dead as the players might think, and after they are distracted by the zombies, it rises up, filled with undead powers, and begins to heat the waters in the cavern, creating dangerous steam around the Remorhaz.

Broken Pillar

Through any one of the Guardian Doors, there is a chance The Architect will arrive after the players knock down the massive chains holding up a few of the wooden support pillars that are built underneath the cathedral.

On this map, I added the bottom post of the large wooden pillar, splintered at the top with piles of shattered wood and stone. Huge chains lie smashed into the stone flooring at the base of this pillar, wedged deep within the bedrock of this demi-plane. Surrounding the player is a circular stone cavern room beyond the guardian door with a glowing, purple moss clinging to the rock. It is here where your players will take their stand against the undead horde and The Architect in the final battle. I've created a number of levels and depth to this map, along with plenty of cover for your players to use wisely as they make their last stand.

  • For my Champion Tier patrons, you will get the following in this release:
  • Two maps total: Guardian Door 3 & Broken Pillar
  • 7 Color Moods for each map
  • 4k & 8k Resolution
  • Grid & NoGrid
  • No light version for the Broken Pillar map
  • Jpg & Webp
  • VTT Sizing guide
  • A copy of the PDF adventure (Found on this post) to run these maps

Phew! That was one of the biggest adventures I've made maps for, and it was fun to end on an epic note. I was very inspired by the Mourninghold adventure, and I hope you've all enjoyed both the maps and the content published by Lunch Break Heroes.

Next up for this month, I'll be hitting location nine from the Saltmarsh series of maps: "The Green Market." This will be a smaller map with numerous outdoor market stalls selling goods and wares.

Then I'll be finishing the interior locations of my Village of Barovia map I created, and I'd like to create a Svalich Forest map featuring a large dead oak tree in the center to support a fun little encounter added by the DragnaCarta Reloaded guide (You can find the guide here).

It's always my hope you all continue to enjoy my work on both the dark fantasy and Saltmarsh fronts, and I continue to provide stunning artwork to make your games come alive.

As always, thank you for your continued support!

Cheers,

DM Andy
