Hello everyone, and happy Release Monday! Today, I have the privilege of sharing with you all a map that is near and dear to my heart. I've created a graveyard map dedicated to Dia de los Muertos in honor of my wife's Mexican heritage. I hope you'll enjoy checking out all of the wonderful decorations I've added to the various graves and the vibrancy of the colors used here. I especially love the night version of this map, in which you'll see over 800 candles illuminated!

Death and funerary customs have always intrigued me in both fantasy settings and real-world cultures, and I find Dia de los Muertos amongst one of the most beautiful ways to honor those we have loved who have departed.

And in the event, you won't have any need for a map like this, no worries! I've created a variant without all of the decorations, and can be used for any of your generic graveyard needs (I don't know about you, but I always seem to need a graveyard map in my games!)

There are two core maps to this release:

  • Dia de los Muertos variant
  • Graveyard only

The Dia de los Muertos version comes with and without lights on all of the moods except for the night map.

The Graveyard-only map also contains various weather effects such as sun flares, rain, and fog.

For these maps, I've created a total of eight different color moods, including:

  • Dark Fairytale: Dark, moody, and vibrant.
  • Ghostly: A greenish aura gives this map a haunted feeling.
  • Gloom: My traditional dark fantasy mood. Grim, dark, and creepy!
  • Night: Silvery moonlight casts down on this nighttime version.
  • Overcast: Desaturated and grey hint of dark looming clouds above.
  • Sunny Day: Bright and vibrant!
  • Verdant: A natural tone that brings out the greens and browns.
  • Warm: A cozy, warm version of the map focusing on the autumn colors.

For my Champion Tier Patrons, you get the following in this map release:

  • 4k & 8k resolution @ 300 DPI
  • Grid & No Grid
  • Two core variants: Dia de los Muertos & Graveyard Only (no decorations)
  • 8 Color moods to set the perfect tone for your games
  • Various weather such as sun flares, fog and rain
  • Versions without lights for the Dia de los Muertos map
  • Jpg & Webp file formats
  • VTT Sizing guide

I've had a monster amount of work with the Dwarven Mansion and this map over the last few weeks and will be taking the next week off to reset my brain a bit! Since this is a five-Monday month, I plan to release the fourth map on Oct 30th, where I will be mapping my way back to the village of Barovia. This time, I plan on recreating my village outskirts by creating a map of the Svalich Road leading into the village with a few scattered farmhouses and some dilapidated farmland surrounding the road. This will be a great map to introduce the village, have the party take refuge in one of the abandoned farmhouses, or even be chased into town by a pack of marauding wolves. Lots of options to showcase this iconic village!

As always, thank you SO much for your support, and I hope you've enjoyed this map today.

Cheers,

DM Andy

Love Dia de los Muertos! However, now "Un Poco Loco" is living in my head rent free. :P

Haha! I watched that movie while working on this map :) Also I listened to La Llorona (Carmen Goett version) pretty much on repeat. So glad you liked it!
